Armed robbery charges, Upper Coomera

A man has been charged following an armed robbery that occurred in Upper Coomera overnight.

At 7.10pm, a man approached a man and a woman in a car in a carpark on Days Road and asked for a lift.

When the pair declined, it will be alleged that he produced a knife and demanded the car keys before driving it to a nearby address on Reserve Road.

It will be further alleged that after a brief altercation, the man was restrained by the residents and police have arrived a short time later and have taken a man into custody.

The man was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and no one else was injured as a result of the incident.

A 32-year-old Arundel man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates court today.
